Rico Abreu had a challenging 2017 Chili Bowl. A series of unfortunate events on his qualifying night left him with no option but to take a provisional, after Saturday's climb from the F-Feature proved impossible. During the Chili Bowl A-Feature, Rico had gone from 25th to 7th when he was caught up in wreck that sent him to the back. Even still, Abreu came away with a respectable 12th place finish.
Sam Hafertepe Jr.'s Thursday night was near flawless leading up to the A-feature. He had gone from 8th to 2nd in his heat and won his qualifier from 6th to put him on the pole of the A. Unfortunately, while running 2nd in the Thursday night feature, Sam hit the cone on the restart and was sent to the back of the pack with little laps remaining.
J.J. Yeley looked strong in his qualifier, fending off a stacked field and placing 2nd to advance to the A-Feature on Friday night of the Chili Bowl.
Ryan Robinson looked solid at the Chili Bowl in his Abreu Vineyards—Keith Kunz Motorsports ride. Robinson won his heat from 7th, held his own through the qualifiers and C-Feature and walked away with a 6th place finish in the Wednesday night A-Feature.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr looked good, running up front all week at the Chili Bowl. In the main event he placed a respectable 16th.
